Aerodrome Inspector Basic Training

Introduction

This course is delivered in cooperation with Search and Rescue International (Ltd).

Gain an understanding of the state SAR obligations and IAMSAR guidance in relation to regular SAR exercise planning!

This 2 day scenario-based workshop provides students with a practical application of the requirements under IAMSAR Vol 1, appendix O. Further, it will assist in understanding and testing of SAREX plans.

Methodology - developing an exercise scenario outline, structure and Concept of Operations (ConOps)
Hardware
Environmental Considerations
Planning and Communicating the Exercise
All assets Integration
Debriefing the SAREX
Personnel requirements
Lessons Learned

The workshop covers ICAO Annex 12; IAMSAR Manuals Vols 1, appendix O; EU Reg 2018/1139; National SAR regulations

Course Content

By means of group excercises, table top simulation, and case studies students will familiarize themselves with the total SAR system requirements and current guidance material. Further they will gain insights into the planning and managing of SAR exercises.

SAR Tasking Agency staff from MRCCs, ARCCs and JRCCs;
National Aviation Authority Inspectors.
Staff from Search and Rescue Organisations (Helicopters, Lifeboats, Mountain Rescue)

Pre-requisites

Essential:

No essential pre-requisites, however, the following would be desirable:

Personnel currently part of an AOC management team responsible for SAR activities
Personnel with a responsibilty for implementing state SAR obligations and IAMSAR guidance
Personnel with a responsibility for the tasking of SAR assets.
