Airport Security Programme Workshop

Introduction

This five-day interactive workshop is designed to familiarize participants with the requirements of an Airport Security Programme (ASP) and enable them to draft and review such programmes. It is recommended that nominees be at the senior or middle management level within the State’s appropriate authority, or within an airport, who are responsible for the approval, quality control, drafting, updating and/or implementation of ASPs.  

The workshop relies on active participation through brainstorming and sharing ideas, participants will draft certain portions of a “sample” ASP as part of the workshop and this knowledge can then be taken away and implemented when they draft, review and revise an ASP within their own State or airport. Following key topics:

• Civil Aviation Security – ICAO Requirements
• Review of Annex 17 and Security Manual 8973
• Aviation Security Programme
• Standards and Guidance
• Inclusion and Maintenance of ASP and SOPs

Course Content

By the end of the course you will be able to:
• Describe the ICAO requirements for an Airport Security Programme (ASP)
• Demonstrate the ICAO Airport Security Programme model outline, as well as guidance provided in the ICAO Security Manual Doc 8973
• Practical experience in drafting “sample” portions of an ASP

It is also recommended that participants have attended a specialized aviation security training activity, such as the ICAO National Civil Aviation Security Programme Workshop or Management Course, prior to attending this workshop.
