Module 4: Interpersonal & Self-development skills

Introduction

This course is part of theĀ Soft Skills Certificate Programme

The aviation industry is extremely innovative in finding new business models.Traditional ways of overseeing these models may no longer apply, Therefore regulators need to find new ways of keepingoversight and focus on performance. This requires a change in culture and the mindsets of inspectors.

This course will focus on the development and maintenance of skills in order to achieve objectives, engagement in a life-long learning process and effectiveand flexible adaptation within a change environment.

Course Content

The general course objective is to develop skills expected to be held by Inspectors to deal with upcoming challenges posed by introduction of safety management, risk-based oversight and multinational business models in all aviation domains.

This course will offer theory, examples and practical exercises to provide the participants with the necessary knowledge, skills and attitudes in order to:

  • Understand cultural differences and adapt behaviour to culture-specific expectations
  • Lead open and tactful discussions where all parties can state their case
  • Sense the emotional standing of a counterpart in a conversation and react with respect and appreciation
  • Able to build constructive relationships - up, down, and sideways, inside and outside the organisation
  • Acknowledge the opinions of others.
  • Show interest and pursues appropriate learning activities that meet self-development/learning needs
  • Understand that different situations need different skills and approaches (e.g. shift from compliance-based to performance-based)
  • Think ahead and obtain technical and professional knowledge accordingly

By the end of this course, you should have:
