The Bird and Wildlife Strike Prevention Level 1 course provides delegates with a comprehensive overview of the key principles for effective bird and wildlife strike prevention at and around aerodromes. Furthermore, the course will provide information about the latest technology and equipment, methods and techniques, as well as guidance and measures which should be adopted as part of an aerodrome’s Safety Management System.
Note: The Bird and Wildlife Strike Prevention Level 1 is a kick-off course that is part of the Birds/Wildlife Strike Prevention Conference in Amsterdam (05-09 December 2016), and can only be taken in combination with the plenary sessions of the conference.

At the end of the course participants should be able to demonstrate that they are:
• Acquainted with relevant ICAO and EASA regulations, recommendations and standards related to aviation wildlife management;
• Able to appreciate the main ecological and biological factors related to the wildlife strike risk;
• Acquainted with the various methods of detecting, monitoring and recordingwildlife species, their behavior and habitat;
• Acquainted with the various preventive and reactive measures;
• Able to understand the wild life risk factors related to aircraft and aerdrome operations;
• Able to identify the relevant stakeholders;
• Able to provide the methods of assessing the wildlife strike risk and how to place these in the aerodrome safety management system.
