Safety Management Systems - Advanced Course

Introduction

Advanced Safety Management is built on the premise that an organization already has a Safety Management System in place. This course will allow participants to further develop, review, and/or validate current Safety Management Systems. 

The course will provide a wealth of advanced materials and samples that be used in the company Safety Management System (Flight, hanger, flight line, maintenance, shop, etc.) 

This is an application level course and students should plan to bring the following: 

� A laptop computer with memory stick.
� Hard copy and electronic copies of their current Safety Program / Safety Management System (Flight, hanger, flight line, maintenance, shop, etc.) that you are willing to share with other students.
ï�§ Any additional materials that may be beneficial to share with other students. 

Participants will also receive an additional CD from the instructor of all advanced materials for this course.
 

Course Content

At the completion of this course attendees will be able to: 

- Act as an effective resource to the Accountable Manager and other managers in the Safety System.
- Assess your current Safety Management System.
- Modify and tailor your current Safety Management System.
- Incorporate industry “best practices” into the Safety Management System.
- Network and share information and materials with other attendees in the class.
- Identify and use the supplemental resources provided in this course to further develop, implement, and manage an effective Safety Management System

Who should take this course

All employees within aviation companies and maintenance organizations - including key post-holders, flight safety facilitator,, accountable, quality, maintenance, and training managers; the nominated SMS manager; departmental heads, and operations managers, who are involved in or have an interest in Safety Management.
 
This course will give participants the tools to fulfill the ICAO Annex 6 requirements SMS and JAR-OPS 1 and 3 requirements developing a Flight Safety Program
 

Pre-requisites

Essential:

- An interest in achieving increased knowledge in the understanding development of Safety Management Systems.

- To have attended the JAA Safety Management Systems Training Course first (or an equivalent course at another organisation).
