TRAINING COURSE
SAFA (Safety Assessment of Foreign Aircraft) Awareness Training Course
Introduction
Since the introduction of the European Safety Assessment of Foreign Aircraft in 1996, this ramp inspection program has become an important tool for Authorities in assessing non-national aircraft compliance with ICAO standards as expressed in Annex 1, 6 and 8 and with regional procedures as prescribed in ICAO DOC 7030/4.
With the implementation of the SAFA Directive and associated regulations providing legal basis for banning of aircraft, operators or operators from applicable states from European airspace, the need for operators to have a thorough understanding of the SAFA program, its implication on operations and how to prepare themselves in order to avoid unnecessary delays is evident.
The SAFA Awareness training program provides the participants with applicable knowledge of the SAFA program and the necessary information on how to prepare crews and aircraft for SAFA inspections, including a detailed checklist of items to be checked and legal references to required ICAO Standards (SAFA Self Assessment Tool). It also provides guidance on an operators dialog with SAFA inspectors and inspecting CAAs following CATII or III findings.
