CS-FSTD and related Part AR/OR articles Training Course

Introduction

NOTE: This training course has been replaced by the NAA Inspectors Training Course - Aircrew/FSTD!

JAR-FSTD under EASA regulation will be split into three parts:

  1. Part OR for organization requirements.
  2. Part AR for authority requirements.
  3. CS-FSTD(A) for pure simulator requirements.

This course will explain the relevant parts of PART AR and OR and CS-FSTD related to simulator qualification and operation.

CS-FSTD(A) is applicable to all flight training devices regarding aeroplanes, from full flight simulators to BITD devices. Helicopters are not discussed in this course. The JAR-FSTD was applicable from 1998 onwards but is now replaced with CS-FSTD and Part AR and Part OR. It is about the requirements placed on operators like the need for safe operation, a good working quality system (to ensure the operator is able to maintain the device up to the required standards), maintaining and updating the device (modifications, etc), maintaining a link with the aeroplane manufacturers and simulator manufacturers. But it is about the objective testing of the simulator as well. It describes all the required tests for qualification and the related issues like engineering data, motion, visual, control loading and sound issues.

NB: Please note this course does not address helicopter-related subjects or issues.
