SMS and EASA Management System Executive Briefing (OLD, do not use)
Introduction
This course introduces a high level framework for the development and implementation of a service providers’ Safety Management System (SMS).
Course Content
At the completion of this course, attendees will be able to:
- Understand the framework for development and implementation of a Safety Management System, based on the (future) requirements of ICAO and EASA and best industry practices.
- Understand their role in the development and implementation of an effective Safety management System.

Who should take this course
- High level management of:
- Aircraft operators,
- Training organisations,
- Approved Maintenance organizations,
- Organizations responsible for the design and/or manufacture of aircraft,
- Air Traffic Services providers, and
- Certified aerodromes,
who are responsible for the implementation and development of a Safety Management System.
- Management of authorities, although not the main target group for this course, may also have an interest to learn about the responsibilities of service providers related to the implementation of an SMS (The State needs to initially approve the service providers’ SMS and regularly audit the SMS)
Pre-requisites
Essential:
An interest in achieving applicable knowledge in the understanding, development and realistic implementation of a Safety Management System.
Participants are kindly requested to bring a laptop to the course to access course material which will only be provided in electronic format.
