Search and Rescue Exercise (SAREX) Techniques (INACTIVE per Aug 2022)

Introduction

This course is delivered in cooperation with Search and Rescue International (Ltd).

Gain an understanding of the state SAR obligations and IAMSAR guidance in relation to regular SAR exercise planning!

This 2 day scenario-based workshop provides students with a practical application of the requirements under IAMSAR Vol 1, appendix O. Further, it will assist in understanding and testing of SAREX plans.

Course Content

By means of group excercises, table top simulation, and case studies students will familiarize themselves with the total SAR system requirements and current guidance material. Further they will gain insights into the planning and managing of SAR exercises.

Who should take this course

  • SAR Tasking Agency staff from MRCCs, ARCCs and JRCCs;
  • National Aviation Authority Inspectors.
  • Staff from Search and Rescue Organisations (Helicopters, Lifeboats, Mountain Rescue)

Pre-requisites

Essential:

The following would be desirable:

  • Personnel currently part of an AOC management team responsible for SAR activities
  • Personnel with a responsibilty for implementing state SAR obligations and IAMSAR guidance
  • Personnel with a responsibility for the tasking of SAR assets.

Participants are kindly requested to bring a laptop to the course to access course material which will only be provided in electronic format.
